Good Shabbos 12 4 2018.

Dear All,

The weather has been VERY strange in the ‘Ou Transvaal’…..lots of rain, and overcast days ….. Many of them…..and after all this rain, I am surprised that they have not managed to store more water…… No water plans at all.???  ‘Gonna be a COLD winter Methinks….????

The Super 15 , 8th round was again very exciting, and I saw a few Shpielers with a bit of class in the Souff Effrikken teams……

The poooor ‘Sharkies’ played their hearts out, in a good display, BUT…..were robbed in the 80 +++++ minute of the game….how cruel……. BUT….that’s the way the oval ball goes….. When are they going to retire the Beast & Chillyboy….??? they are finished…… 38-37 in Ref’s extra time….does not get more exciting than this……

The Sunwolves went down fighting for every ball again, and the Waratah’s manged to get 50 on the scoreboard….. The Chiefs scrapped home against the Blues, who were outstanding, BUT….the Penalty try sunk them….. The Brumbies hammered the Reds 45-21, with Pocock starting to show the GR88888 form that he had…..

Ek dink hy voel seker nou soos n aap....... (Einaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah…..)

The ‘Mighty Lions’ were fearless against the Stormers, and they were running everything…..Must say the Stormers also ran a lot, but their finishing was shocking and the Lions won easily by 52-31…. Malcolm Marx , Franco Mostert and Kwagga Smith were E-mazing….and of course winger Michael Tambwe scored 4 tries, and I ma sure they will pick him for the Boks, BUT….he does not have the experience yet, and they will spoil the player….For the Stormers, Steph Du Toit had a Blinder, & Rooi Kop, Kitshoff was also excellent….Willemse was good at Flyhalf, BUT….made a lot of basic errors…. De Allende & Leyds are actually pathetic, and out of their league in Super Rugger…..

The Jaguares – Crusaders game was a lesson in ‘How to play Rugger’ by the Crusaders who beat them easily, on home territory…

Two Lenasia cousins, Ravi and Pravesh, are walking down the street one day.

They happen to come upon a crematorium. Ravi promptly asks Pravesh,

"Hey cousin, what's this crematorium thing?"

Pravesh: "Hey no man, how must I know?"

Ravi: "Well run in there and check it out!"

Pravesh runs in, a couple minutes later he exits the crematorium severely beaten, covered in his own blood.

Ravi (quite shocked, asks): "And now Pravesh, what happened to you man?"

Pravesh: "No man, I go inside, right!"

Ravi: "Right?"

Pravesh: "I see all these sad people standing around, right?"

Ravi: "Right?"

Pravesh: "So I ask them, hey what's cooking?”  ( An Absoluuuuuuuuuut Classic…..)

The Hong Kong Sevens Rugger saw the ‘Blitzbokke win handsomely in the opening games….BUT….Fiji has become there BLOCK, and they settled for bronze…. The Blitzbokke were unrecognizable, from the team that was flying last year….tooooo many injuries….Fiji are only 3 points behind the Blitzbokke, soooo they have to start winning again…..

The Liverpool 3-0 win over Manchester City was Tukka an eye opener and Liverpool Tukka blitzed them in the first half   (Well done Martin & Brian…) BUT….against Everton they were back to normal, and managed to hold on to a draw……. They then beat Man City again to knock them out of the Cup….. 4 losses for Man City in a row..???  The Manchester Derby was Absoluuuuuuuuuutly E-mazing, with Man United only 2 goals down at half time, and on their display, deserved to be 6 down…..They ran on after half time , and my ‘favourite’, Pogba (Oy…) managed to get to goals in a few minutes and it was game on……and City were totally out of it in the second half, and Chris Smalling ( should play in a Rugger team at forward, as he tackles the opposition Shpielers/pulls shirts/trips etc.) managed to get a 3rd goal, and United somehow won 3-2……. Quite unbelievable……..

A blonde heard that bathing in milk would make her beautiful.

She left a note for her milkman to leave 25 gallons of milk.

When the milkman read the note, he felt there must be a mistake.

He thought she probably meant 2.5 gallons.
So he knocked on the door to clarify the point.

The blonde came to the door and the milkman said,

"I found your note asking me to leave 25 gallons of milk. Did you mean 2.5 gallons?"

The blonde said, "No, I want 25 gallons. I'm going to fill my bathtub up with milk and take a milk bath so I can
Look young and beautiful again.

The milkman asked, "Do you want it pasteurized?"

The blonde said, "No, just up to my ‘boobs. I can splash it on my eyes."

( The Kaylikka’s will catch it eventually………..)

Frightening to think that the World Cup Sokka in Russia starts in 2 months’ time …..still a lot of Tzorres coming with this World Cup…….????

The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.

"I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final say in reality. Right temporarily defeated is stronger than evil triumphant."

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.

Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.

Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.

The time is always right to do what is right.

I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.

In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends. –

Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?

Don't compromise yourself. You're all you've got.

If you know what you're looking for, that's all you'll get, what's previously known. But when you're open to what's possible, you get something new: that's creativity

Not too long ago, there was a woman who wanted to know how her husband would react if she left without telling him where she had gone.

She decided to write him a letter saying she was tired of him and didn't want to live with him anymore. After writing the letter, she put it on the table in the bedroom and then climbed under the bed to hide until her husband got home.

When he eventually came back home, he saw the letter on the table and read it.

After a few moments of silence, he picked up the pen and added something to the letter.

Then he started to get changed, whistling happy tunes and singing and dancing while he did so. He grabbed his phone and dialled a number.

His wife listened from under the bed as he started chatting with someone.

"Hey babe, I'm just changing clothes then I will join you," he said.

"As for the other fool, it finally dawned on her that I was fooling around on her and left.

I was really wrong to have married her; I wish you and I had met earlier. See you soon, honey!"

Then he hung up and walked out of the room.

In tears and very upset, she climbed out from under the bed and stumbled over to read what her unfaithful husband had written on the end of her letter.

Through teary and bleary eyes, she read:

I could see your feet you idiot, I am going out to buy some bread."

(Oy Vy…………not funny…..)

This Mishugas, of wanting to return from Gaza to Israel, is Tukka a Seriaaaaaaaas business, and as the ‘Mumzers’ send women and children (Also babies) into the front line, the world starts to point fingers at Israel…..with Yom ‘Haatzma’ut next week, I am sure the ‘Galeria’s’ will raise the Tempo….many say it is a guise to enable them to try and damage the Tunnel breaking equipment..??? Of course that NOBLE institution, the UN has again given its ‘tuppence’ worth, and wants to try and get an Arms embargo against Israel….Quite E-mazing how biased those ‘Galeria’s’ are….. BUT in the meantime it is a Seriaaaaaaaaaaas threat to Citizens of Israel, especially those in the South…..

In the years before the Balfour Declaration, a member of the House of Lords asked Chaim Weizmann, "Why do you Jews insist on Palestine when there are so many undeveloped countries you could settle in more conveniently?"

Weizmann replied, "That is like my asking you why you drove 20 miles to visit your mother last Sunday when there are so many old ladies living on your street."

A Jew converts and becomes a priest. He gives his first mass in front of a number of high ranking priests who came for the occasion.

At the end of the new priest's sermon a cardinal goes to congratulate him. "Pater Lewis," he said, "That was very well done, you were just perfect.

Just one little thing. Next time, please don't start your sermon with, 'Fellow goyim...' ".

Little Moishie was having a tough time adjusting to first grade.

At least twice a week, his parents would receive a note from his teacher outlining his latest infractions.

Finally his parents sat him down and said, "Moishie, we've had enough!

We don't want any more notes from your teacher!"

Moishe replied, "Alright. Do you guys want to tell her or should I?"

Went to Sydenham Shul for Yizkor on Shabbos, and I must say that their Yizkor service is Tukka a meaningful experience, with the Rabbi Droshe always spot on and the Choir E-mazing…..Methinks that they definitely get the most women out of all the Shuls…..good turnout generally…

Some years ago, Michael J. Flanagan, a successful New York contractor, was standing on the deck of the Staten Island Ferry when a car got loose and sent him into the river where he drowned.

The following Sunday his widow, all decked out in deepest black, was standing on the church steps after Mass, receiving condolences and enjoying every minute of it, when an old friend of the contractor came up.

"I'm sorry, Mary, for your trouble," offered the friend. "Did Mike leave you well fixed?"

"Oh, he did!" she said. "He left me a million dollars."

"Well now, that's not bad for a man who couldn't read or write."

"Nor swim either," added the widow.  ( Ag Neeeeeeeee…..)

An Italian tourist asks a blonde man:

"Why do scuba divers always fall backwards off their boats?"

To which the blonde man replies: "If they fell forward, they'd still be in the boat."

A European tourist is lost and stops in an Irish village to ask for directions.

He sees two old men sitting outside the pub enjoying their Guinness.

"Parlez-vous Francais?" he asks.

The old men look at each other and shake their heads.

"Sprechen sie Deutsch?"

Again, the old men shake their heads.

Beginning to get a bit irritated, the tourist asks "Habla Espanol?"

The men once again shake their heads.

Totally exasperated by now, the tourist asks "Parla l'italiano?"

The men once again look at each other and then shake their heads in puzzlement.

The tourist is so disgusted that he drives off.

One old man says to the other, "You know, Sean, perhaps we should learn another language."

"Ah get on with yeh; look at him, he knows four and it didn't do him a bit of good."

An eccentric philosophy professor gave a one question final exam after a semester dealing with a broad array of topics.

The class was already seated and ready to go when the professor picked up his chair, plopped it on his desk and wrote on the board:

"Using everything we have learned this semester, prove that this chair does not exist."

Fingers flew, erasers erased, notebooks were filled in furious fashion.

Some students wrote over 30 pages in one hour attempting to refute the existence of the chair. One member of the class however, was up and finished in less than a minute.

Weeks later when the grades were posted, the rest of the group wondered how he could have gotten an A when he had barely written anything at all.

His answer consisted of two words: "What chair?" (Otazay………………..)

On Sunday I went with ALL my Einingklach (7) to the Bunny Park, which was celebrating its 1st year ……. ‘Ripley’s Believe it or Not’, the park is on top of Sylvia’s Pass, exactly where the Oldroyd Bowling Club was ‘Amolikke Yoren’…..and which eventually became the home of the Jewish Guild Bowls Club……. I grew up in that area, as my Cuzzies the Weitzman’s lived just down the road in Klip /Robertson Street……. In those days the Etkind and Perkins families stayed directly across the road from Oldroyd, and we used to often visit Laurence Etkind & Gary Perkins….. They have a small Flea Market and Nursey there on a Sunday……The Bunny Park is E-mazing for Kinderlach up to 7/8 years old….and they have a few ‘Billy Goat Gruff’s’/chickens/swans & Tortoises….and Bunnies of course The owner, Andrea (Colombick) Berzen was a waitress at Stan & Pete ‘Amolikke Yoren’…… The Einingklach love the Bunnies….  Pics..

Eishhhhhhhhhhhhh, Jacob has started his ‘Spin’, and if you believe some reports over the weekend, it could be at least 8 years, before he actually has to defend himself……The ‘Buffalo’ has to stamp some kind of authority, as there is now talk of Zuma’s Chavers trying to derail the next election, by not voting Oooooom Cyril in…??? He has to show he has ‘Baetzim’, and the time is now…….. If they can just get the Galeria to pay his own legal costs, the case would get going pretty soooon.

Be Careful Of Your Choices……….

Three men (Mandela, De Klerk, Mugabe) were travelling in a plane and their plane crashed in a remote island.

The king of the tribe told them that they could live if they pass a trial.

The first step of the trial was to go to the forest and get three pieces of fruits - the best they could get.

So all three men went separate ways to gather fruits.

De Klerk came back and said to the king I brought three apples.

The king then explained the trial to him. You have to shove the fruit up your ‘Toches’ without any expression on your face or you'll be shot dead.

The first apple went in, but on the second one he winced out in pain, so he was killed.

Mandela arrived and showed the king three berries.

When the king explained the trial to him, he thought to himself that this should be easy!

Easy 1......2.....and on the third berry he bust out in laughter and was killed.

De Klerk and Mandela met in heaven. De Klerk asked, why did you laugh?

You almost got away with it?

Mandela replied, I couldn't help it, I saw Mugabe coming with 3  pineapples " (Eishhhhh..)

The Gupta’s are far gone, and the Bobbameises nearly daily is that they are on to them and they will face the music….Methinks they are taking nonsense, and a Souff Effrikken, working in Dubai claims to have confronted Ajay Gupta, and he says that when he knows the charges, he will be back….What a load of Bobbameises…. … The VAT refunds of R70m that were refunded to the Gupta Gunovim, have now been found to be irregular…. (Good morning…!!!!), and they even got let off lesser charges…. What a rubbish story, that they will bring them to justice….. The ‘Mooooohlah’ is gone, Finnish & Klaaaaaaar………….

The Mother of the Nation is being hailed as a Saint…..Quite E-mazing, when you read her life’s history during the struggle years, how many times she actually broke the Law, by Pilfering ‘Geld’ for her lover, The ‘Stompie’ affair and many other transgressions…… and of course the EFF (Everything for free) leader, ‘Young Julius’ has jumped on the wagon, stating she was like a mother to him …. Einaaaaaaaaaah

Last night they had a documentary on Winnie, which was put together well…bit biased in parts, BUT….a good reflection…..

Three blokes from Brakpan were working up on a cell phone tower - Frik, Piet and Koos.

As they start their descent Frik slips and falls off the tower and is killed instantly.

As the ambulance takes the body away, Piet says,

"Well, damn, someone should go and tell his wife."

Koos says, "OK, I'm pretty good at that sensitive stuff, I'll do it."

Two hours later, he comes back carrying a case of Castle Lager Beer.

Piet says, "Where did you get that beer, Koos?"

"Frik's wife gave it to me," Koos replies.

"That's unbelievable, you told the lady her husband was dead and she gave you beer?"

Well, not exactly", Koos says.

"When she answered the door, I said to her, you must be Frik's widow'."

She said, "You must be mistaken, I'm not a widow."

Then I said "I'll bet you a case of Castle you are. "

Brakpan ‘Okes’ Are Good At Sensitive Stuff. ( Ja Neeeeeeeeeeeeeee….)

Unfortunately, even with the change of ‘Balabos’ the pillaging continues, with new disclosures every day….. and the amounts are horrific……. And the Chief Leader, Jacob Zuma sits in court and declares he has no idea why they are still trying to prosecute him, and openly says he will ‘muster’ the Comrades to defy the ‘Buffalo..??

                                                        Just Do It!

How do you develop confidence when you don’t have it? How does one overcome fear, nerves and anxieties? Well, without going into major psychological dissertations, let’s see if we can find some insight in this week’s Parsha.

Everything was set for the inauguration of the sacred service in the Sanctuary. The week-long preparations had been completed. Now it was Aaron’s turn to approach the altar and begin the service. But Aaron was reluctant. He still felt a sense of shame for his part in the Golden Calf episode. So Moses calls out to Aaron, “Approach the altar and perform the services.” Aaron did so and completed all the required tasks correctly. But what exactly did Moses say to Aaron to assuage his fears? All he said was ‘Come and do your thing.’ He never actually dealt with his issues. How did he address his concerns or his feelings of inadequacy?

Well, perhaps, Moses was saying ‘Come and Do’ and you will see that all your fears will be dispelled. You lack confidence? Start performing the services and you will come to realize that it fits you like a glove. You were born to be a High Priest and that’s where you belong.

Moses was telling Aaron that if he would begin performing his chosen role, the rest would follow. As they say in Yiddish, Apetit kumt mit’n essen. Even if you’re not hungry, if you start eating, your appetite will follow. I suppose that’s why the first course in a   meal is called an Appetizer. (Trust Jews when it comes to food.)

Dr Moses was dispensing sound psychological advice. The surest way of developing confidence is to begin doing that which you fear. Throwing kids in the deep end to teach them how to swim may not be everybody’s cup of tea, but it usually works. Some of the finest public speakers were microphone-shy, even neurotic at first. When we lack self-assurance, confronting our fears and phobias can be the best therapy. We discover that it really wasn’t all that bad after all and we actually manage better than we ever imagined. And from there our self-belief grows until we become quite relaxed about the whole thing.

I remember as a young rabbi just starting out in my career. One morning, the dreaded phone call came. A relatively young woman had passed away. I knew I had to go to the family to comfort them but what would I tell them? Did I have answers for people who had just been bereaved of their loving wife and mother? Could I play G-d? I was feeling rather paralyzed for a while and fiddled with all sorts of matters of far less importance. And I knew why. Simple. I was stalling. It was a case of plain procrastination because I couldn’t face this most unpleasant task which I felt unqualified to deal with.

Eventually, I forced myself to go because I knew I had to. It was my job and they were waiting for me. And guess what happened? Lo and behold! There were no hysterics, no challenges thrown in my face about where was G-d? I was able to deal with the family and their questions. And I discovered then that they didn’t really expect me to wave any magic wands, or resurrect the dead, or answer for G-d. They felt very comforted by my presence and were grateful that I was there for them in their hour of need.

It was for me a very important lesson and a growth point in my rabbinical practice. Experience really is a fantastic teacher.

I would venture to add that it applies to each of us in our Jewish lives. So many people are reluctant to get involved. Too many are intimidated by Shul and because they are not confident enough about synagogue protocol or their Hebrew literacy, they simply opt out – and lose out. I can attest to hundreds of Jews of every age and stage who have been in that very position and then began coming to Shul. It didn’t take them long at all to feel part of the Shul family and they’ve never looked back. But this most spiritually gratifying part of their lives would never have been theirs if they didn’t take that first brave step.

‘Come and do’ said Moses to his humble and hesitant brother. Aaron came and did, and the rest is history.
